This may be related to #796 and even #805 types of activity, but it also might be more about coding of exporters so for now I'm posting separately.

When exporting MakeHuman (collada) and importing into blender there is a 90 degree rotation on x-axis. This statement is based on having the parent model selected in Blender (see image).

Among other things, it is impossible to use MakeWalk in Blender if this rotation is not applied. Can/Should all rotations be applied prior to export?

I'd say it is a bug in MakeWalk that it cannot handle this.
I think it's not even the DAE exporter doing this, but Blender's DAE importer interpreting the orientation specified in DAE metadata.

In essence there is nothing wrong with an object rotation.

It may be that the 90 degree rotation on the root bone is there by design, but it will impact the local coordinate systems of all the bones up the line.

This rotation may not only affect MakeWalk, but might relate to issue #805 and the local coordinate rotations seen there. http://bugtracker.makehuman.org/issues/805#note-2

  • Target version set to MakeHuman 1.1.1

Is this still a problem?

#4 Updated by Joel Palmius almost 2 years ago

  • Target version changed from MakeHuman 1.1.1 to MakeHuman 1.1.2

If it is still a problem, it isn't going to make it for 1.1.1.
